An expected lifespan under correctly and regularly maintained conditions of eight to ten years is quite possible as can be seen from the testimonials on our home page . Many clients have reported even longer lifespan periods whilst a few were able to reduce the lifespan to less than 5 years due to reasons as indicated below. See our Conditions of Sale below.

Recommendations to Prolong the Lifespan of the Paint Layer
Chemicals to use
Our epoxy pool paint is acid and chlorine resistant when these chemicals are added as per manufacturers instructions to maintain normal recommended water conditions.
Salt Chlorinators
Our product also works with salt chlorinators when used with minimum required salt additions to maintain water clear conditions, see our FAQ page for recommendations on chemicals and the use of salt chlorinators. Salt chlorinators might reduce the lifespan of the product.
Colour stability
A measure of fading and of colour depth reduction over years might occur and is normal to pool paint products exposed to this chemical-rich environment and UV radiation. The general appearance of the coating will however always offer that smooth, clean look for many years until the natural thinning of the coating may require refurbishing with new top-coat layers. Numerous clients have reported back to us after 10 years of usage and were very satified with the product performance.
Important Aftercare Instructions

Reverse osmotic water pressure due to structural porosity and outside water pressure:
Reverse osmotic pressure due to structural porosity and/or high water table pressures can result in
blisters forming in the coating. Our product has been developed to offer exceptional bonding strength and thickness to withstand pressure from outside the swimming pool but is still dependent on the integrity of the pool structure for support.
Pool Solutions Epoxy Coatings does not offer a warranty against external
water-pressure related problems. It is therefore essential to ensure that
the structure is dry and the surroundings are taken into consideration.
If in doubt, certain water sealant barrier precautions can be implemented on the pool surface
to further minimise the risk of blistering due to outside water pressure.
See our installation instructions on how to test and inspect the pool surface beforehand to determine if moist is present in the structure. This is done by means of inspection holes
or as a minimum precaution, using a clear plastic sheet to test for
inherent moisture levels (or a by utilising moist meter). If moist is detected in the substrate, please enquire about our special Wet-Smart Primer as a
special primer instead of the normal primer which is only targeted at completely dry surfaces. If high-water tables
are a possibility (normally in close vicinity of larger water bodies like
rivers, dams, ponds, mountain slopes etc.), the pool surface may require
additional water-sealing methods to be implemented as a precuation.
Products and methods are available from suppliers like Sika,
Coprox etc. For less critical ground moisture levels e.g. from rain
and/or irrigation, a product called PCT66 water repellent may be used in
pre-treating the surface. We strongly recommend this product when applying paint on a new concrete/cement-plastered surface.
Applicators should evaluate the structure before application of the epoxy coat as described above and and according to our instructions to determine if it is a risk for the applied epoxy layer. If the structure seems to leak water from the outside inwards on a large scale while the pool is empty and during the sanding and preparation process, this need to be addressed first in order to implement special sealing techniques to try and minimize the risk, or it might be decided not to apply an epoxy coat at all.
In most cases where this problem did occur, small 3-5mm bubbles appeared that stayed intact for the lifespan of the coating, still offering an esthetically pleasant appearance and will normally only be visible in isolated areas and detectable by close inspection.
